I’m a Creative Director, Art Director, Designer, and Illustrator with 14+ years of experience making things for games, entertainment, music, and culture. Sometimes that means building a global campaign or visual identity. Sometimes it means obsessing over a typeface for three hours. Both seem equally important at the time.
I’ve always approached creative direction as something you do, not just something you oversee. I like getting into the guts of a brief, figuring out what the actual idea is, stripping away everything that doesn’t help it, and building something people might actually care about. I lead teams, develop concepts, make things myself, give feedback, draw over things, move type around, change my mind, change it back, and generally stay close to the work until it’s out the door.
I currently lead creative at Polyarc, where I’ve helped shape the Moss franchise across campaigns, key art, trailers, digital, social, storefronts, and brand systems. I also built the studio’s first centralized creative practice, creating a better way for ideas to move from a sketch or half-formed thought into something finished and out in the world.
Before that, I spent eight years at Rockstar Games creating and directing global work for Red Dead Redemption II, Grand Theft Auto V, GTA Online, Red Dead Online and more. I helped define the visual identity of Red Dead Redemption II, led a multidisciplinary team of more than 30 creatives, and spent a significant portion of my 20’s playing cowboy.
I’ve also kept an independent design and illustration practice going throughout my career, working with people like Disney, Marvel, Nintendo, Dr. Dre, Tame Impala, Arctic Monkeys, NCAA Football, and the Detroit Lions. Personal work has always mattered to me too. I like making things without a brief, committee, focus group, or a particularly good reason.
At the center of all of it is a pretty simple philosophy: find the idea, make it clear, make it interesting, and give a damn about the details.
